About YCR-index

YCR-index is based on the OpenAlex
                    dataset of scientific articles' metadata.
We take Y (year) directly from the metadata. We calculate C (citations) by
                    counting through the whole dataset.

The dataset is currently updated once a year on our side.

R (relative) portion of YCR-index is currently calculated by an independent implementation
                    of the RCR algorithm
                    with important changes:

- Calculations of IFs (impact factors) of journals are based on open data, which means transparency. Original RCR relies on imported IFs from a commercial provider.
 - Calculations take into account all relevant cross-linked articles from open data. Original RCR relies on PubMed-indexed articles only.

We first applied YCR-index in the Oncology domain and have since expanded it to the broader Biomedical field. In addition, we have introduced a complementary metric, PaperRank. Further refinements to the relative measure, along with additional metrics and algorithmic enhancements, are planned for the next phases of development.
