Choosing what to read first becomes easier with YCR-index. If you are unsure whether a citation count is high or low, the browser add-on presents a concise badge that displays Year, total Citations, and the Relative score. By comparing these values, you can quickly see if a paper outperforms, matches, or lags behind others in its field. The metric is presently available for Biomedical research.

The extension recognises DOIs on any web page and injects a YCR badge into Google Scholar results, PubMed listings, and pages for papers already in our database. To do so, it lightly adjusts page elements before inserting the badge. All scores rely on open data from OpenAlex and on our open data implementation of the RCR algorithm (DOI: 10.1371/journal.pbio.1002541). Run by a non-profit scientometrics team, the project aims to deliver clear, unbiased indicators of scholarly influence to researchers worldwide.
